Time to take a break…

April 1, 2008 at 4:55 am (1)

I think it’s time I took a break from this game.

I’m starting to forget that it is, first and foremost, a game. Things get taken seriously sometimes, and emotions get hurt.

And it should never be that way.

So I need to take myself out of the game for a while. A hiatus, if you will. Part of it is for reasons that may seem obvious, and part of it may be reasons that are (and always will be) my own.

So we need to find someone willing to take over the guild while I am gone.

Let the discussion begin!

    Boaz,

I’m sorry you’ve chosen to leave the game for awhile, and I feel very guilty about it. I did not mean to hurt feelings by anything I said tonight, it was never my intention to lay blame or guilt at anyone’s doorstep, and never for a moment do I want you to believe that you aren’t a fabulous GM for TWW.

It is a game, we all need to keep that in mind, but more than that it’s a family of sorts. I consider each and every TWW member a friend..and some of you very good friends having known you for the better part of 2 and a half years. When I think about that it just seems crazy to me..that I know you and know so much about some of you without ever having met..but I think it’s wonderful and I don’t want to sacrifice that for anything. Anytime you get this many people together there will be differences of opinion and different playing styles….it can’t be easy to try to juggle all of that along with school and a job and that weird thing called “life” that we all try to have outside of Azeroth/Outland. I do not envy you the GM position at all, but I think you handle it admirably and do a fantastic job. TWW won’t be the same while you are gone…so don’t stay too long away.

For my part I didn’t come to intrude on the TWW blog now that I’m no longer a member of the guild..I simply came to say that though I’ve chosen to leave the guild I hope that you all know you can call on me anytime for anything at all. Please don’t hesitate to say hello or ask a favor anytime. I will miss you all terribly, I’m a bit teary eyed writing this, and want you to know that I will always remember the incredibly funny, crazy, entertaining moments I spent with TWW as the best times I’ve ever had playing a game of any kind. 🙂 Having been with TWW from nearly the beginning it’s incredibly hard to say goodbye…so I’ll just say farewell for now and hope to see you all soon….

Much love and good luck to you all,

Branywen aka the woman of far too many alts to name here 🙂

Well, I think that you are a wonderful GM. It is a hard role to tackle; thank you for doing such a great job since I’ve been part of the guild. I recognize the need for some distance from the game, it can be a bit too engrossing sometimes. You will definitely be missed. Don’t stay away for too long!

Well, my declaration might have been a bit premature, and riding on emotional fumes..

I don’t know if I can completely leave, even for a brief period.. too many friendships I’d miss.

But I think I may come back in spurts. I am definitely taking myself out of raiding for the moment. Maybe play my alts when I have a chance and shove Boaz into the pantry for a while and play my new durid at a very casual pace with tk and ain.

And it won’t be for very long. I just need to study more. My schooling is starting to suffer slightly, and I need more time to sleep.. this 4-5 hour a night thing really sucks.

Anyways, I’ll see everyone online real soon!

As you just said Boaz, take a breather for a while. I know with Hikari’s job right now she enjoys just playing here and there on alts without the worry of commiting large chunks of time to raiding (She was starting to get burned out on raids.)

If you still feel the need to pass the mantle on for a time, we have a great group of officers that I’m sure will be glad to pick up the slack.

Brany, it was sad to see you go last night. You ever need a tank for anything, give me a holler.

I dont know you, or your guild (other than from this blog) but RL > WOW and your reasons for taking a break seem to be sensible

    Hope everything works out,

    it’s. just. a. game.

Too many people lose sight of this fact, and enjoyment starts to suffer
